Life Skills & Coaching
Life Skills & Coaching at Accessway is all about growing independence and confidence. We pair participants with compassionate mentors and (if needed) qualified psychosocial recovery coaches to help navigate life’s challenges and build everyday skills. From mastering daily routines to learning how to cope with big feelings, we’re by your side as a guide and cheerleader.
What the Service Involves:
-
Mentoring & Confidence-Building: Support workers or coaches act as mentors, helping participants set goals, build self-esteem and celebrate achievements.
-
Daily Routines & Life Skills: Practical coaching in everyday tasks – for example, creating a morning/evening routine, learning to catch public transport, money management, cooking simple meals, or personal hygiene habits. This can greatly increase independence.
-
Emotional Regulation & Social Skills: For participants who need it, coaching in managing emotions, handling stress or anxiety, and improving communication. This might include strategies from a psychosocial recovery coach for those with psychosocial disabilities (mental health conditions).
-
Peer Support & Decision-Making: If appropriate, facilitating peer interactions or community activities that build decision-making skills and confidence in social situations.

Who It's For:
This service is for NDIS participants who wants a bit of extra guidance to live more independently or improve their well-being. It could be a school-leaver learning to transition into adulthood, someone building confidence to eventually move out on their own, or a participant with a psychosocial disability who wants support managing their day-to-day challenges. We tailor the coaching to your goals – big or small – and move at your pace.

Applicable NDIS Funding:
Life skills development and coaching can be funded through certain Capacity Building supports in your NDIS plan. For example, Improved Daily Living or Increased Social & Community Participation budgets often cover individual skill-building, mentoring, and personal development activities. If you have funding for a Psychosocial Recovery Coach (a Capacity Building support for participants with mental health needs), we can provide that service too under this program. We’ll help you figure out which part of your NDIS plan to use.

How to Get Started:
Take the Next Step: If you or your family member could benefit from life skills coaching, we’re here to help. Simply reach out to us for a chat about your needs. We can discuss what you want to achieve and match you with a coach or mentor. There’s no pressure – we can even arrange a meet-and-greet so you’re comfortable.
